PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS OF SCIENCE, MATH AND ENGINEERING PRINCIPLES TO TAKE THE CHALLENGE OUT OF PROBLEMS

Whether it’s to solve a design problem, fix a product failure or improve a production line issue, we first understand the the concern and then develop solutions, practically. Once the initial approach has been ‘modeled’, we employ these powerful tools to help optimize and refine problem resolution.

CAE – Computer Aided Engineering

We use computer software to simulate hardware performance to help resolve an engineering problem and to improve or optimize product designs for a wide range of applications. This includes simulation, validation, and optimization of products, processes, and manufacturing tools.

Spreadsheet-Based Math Models

While routinely employing hand-calculations for order-of-magnitude analysis and ‘back-of-envelope’ estimation,  we leverage the power of spreadsheet-based computation for design calculations to quickly predict and revise product performance of critical product features. Using Microsoft Excel, considerations such as product geometry, mass properties, mechanical stresses, heat transfer characteristics and fluid dynamics are effectively modeled thereby resulting in a revisable, presentable digital document that integrates readily with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, as well as with SolidWorks® CAD software.

FEA – Finite Element Analysis

After creating 3-D CAD component models of your product using SolidWorks software, we use ANSYS® Workbench™ Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software to analyze the 3-D bodies. With this tool we calculate component displacements, strains, and stresses under internal and external loads that are caused by operational loads such as forces, pressures, temperatures, accelerations and contact between components for complex part geometries. Because the FEA modeler knows the exact geometry of your product during the meshing process, an accurate analysis will result.
